Pool Regulations/Forms

Swimming pools pose a unique mix of both potential health and safety dangers.  Environmental Health inspects swimming pools to ensure chemical levels are sufficient to protect bathers from most harmful organisms as well as ensure adequate safety equipment is present.

Things to Know

All public swimming pools, including neighborhood and apartment complex pools, are regulated and inspected by Public Health.  Environmental Health Specialists conduct over 4,000 inspections each year to ensure swimming pool operators are maintaining safe and healthy pools.  Inspections are conducted for not only chemical hazards but physical hazards as well.

Environmental Health Specialists inspect both seasonal pools and year-round pools regularly throughout the year. Staff also evaluates plans for any new construction or renovation to ensure structural/mechanical deficiencies are addressed.
