What happens during a travel clinic appointment?

During your travel consultation, we will discuss your travel plans – where you’ll be going, how long you will stay, and what kind of accommodations you’ll have. We also review your health and immunization history and any medications you are currently taking.

Based on your destination and health history, we will let you know which vaccinations are required or recommended along with recommended medications for your trip.

You will learn about the major health risks that you may encounter while you travel abroad and how to protect yourself.

You will also receive a comprehensive information packet that will detail current health concerns and precautions to take related to your destination, as well as;  literature on how to protect yourself from insect, food and water-borne illnesses during your travel.

We provide:

• Recommended and required immunizations
• Order for malaria medication
• Education on country-specific information (foods, diseases, safety)

When should I schedule a travel clinic appointment?

As soon as you decide to travel abroad, call to schedule an appointment to find out if there are special health needs for your trip. It is best to schedule your appointment at least 4 weeks prior to departure.

How long will my appointment take?

Appointments may take 45 minutes to 1 hour, longer for families.
